THE COMPANY
Tilke Engineers & Architects is a globally renowned engineering firm specializing in the design and construction of racetracks and large-scale infrastructure projects. With offices in Aachen and Olpe, Germany, and teams deployed across international sites, Tilke embodies innovation, precision, and global reach. Yet, the geographically dispersed workforce faced a growing challenge: maintaining a strong corporate culture and fostering a sense of community among employees working on projects around the world.
THE CHALLENGE
The biggest challenge Tilke faced was uniting a workforce scattered across continents and project sites. With employees constantly traveling or stationed abroad, traditional means of fostering culture—like office events or in-person meetings—were no longer sufficient. They needed a digital solution that could engage 100 employees, encourage authentic sharing, and create a space where professional and personal milestones were equally celebrated. Achieving full participation and sustaining it over time required a strategy that blended technology, culture, and human connection seamlessly.
THE PROJECT
To address this, Tilke partnered with Zwopr in April 2023 to create a digital home for its corporate culture. The rollout included a Culture Assessment to identify key engagement topics, which revealed a desire for stronger team bonding, work-life balance initiatives, and recognition of personal milestones. Based on these insights, eight ambassadors launched a vibrant stream of posts across eight themed feeds.
Content ranged from celebrating team achievements and sharing behind-the-scenes stories from construction sites, posts promoting healthy eating and sustainability efforts. Popular feeds like Travel featured employees’ on-site experiences from around the world, while Leisure & Sports highlighted team fitness challenges and social events. Regular DNA Topics posts reinforced Tilke’s core values, and Staff updates celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and personal moments. This dynamic content mix encouraged participation and gave employees a platform to share their voices, creating a sense of belonging across all levels.
