The organization employs over 1400 people with diverse roles ranging from traditional banking services to innovative digital solutions, making internal communication and employee engagement critical for success.

THE CHALLENGE

Volksbank Wien faced the challenge of building an engaging internal community in a rapidly evolving work environment. With a dispersed workforce and the need for a structured, efficient rollout, the bank sought a solution that could unify employees and encourage voluntary participation from day one. Creating high engagement levels and a sense of shared ownership of the culture were key priorities. The goal was not only to launch successfully but also to sustain long-term participation and collaboration across all levels of the organization.

THE PROJECT

In October 2024, Volksbank Wien partnered with Zwopr to launch a digital community platform designed to strengthen employee connection and engagement. The initiative kicked off with the selection and intensive training of a dedicated group of Community Creators (ambassadors). By March 2025, the platform went live, preloaded with over 70 strategic posts scheduled for maximum reach and impact.

These included a mix of inspiring video messages from leadership, practical updates on company initiatives, team spotlights highlighting employees across departments, and interactive polls to gather staff feedback. Lifestyle content such as culinary and travel tips, local event highlights, and sustainability stories were also featured to foster a sense of belonging beyond work.

Within just 21 days of launch, nearly 50% of employees were actively engaging on the platform, contributing content, sharing reactions, and building a vibrant internal community.
